I’m looking for big rug for the living room in the Dream House and, as with the other new items in the house, I’m going to try to find one that’s American made. While I was looking around, I compiled a list of some of rug companies with factories in the States…

  • Capel Rugs offers a wide selection of casual rugs that are made in the United States, including traditional braided, flatwoven and chenille styles.
  • Karastan Rugs date back to the 1920’s, when Marshall Field built a loom that replicated handmade quality with machine speed. They offer a broad range of styles: from traditional to contemporary, casual to fine rugs.
  • Orian Rugs are produced in Anderson, South Carolina. In addition to their American-made credentials, Orian has also been a zero landfill manufacturing facility since 2008.
  • Sisal Rugs Direct offers a wide range of natural fiber and sisal rugs in a variety of sizes, as well as made-to-order specifications. They even have a shag rug that’s 50% bamboo and 50% cotton.

  • Mohawk is one of the biggest names in flooring, with production still based in Georgia. In addition to rugs, Mohawk makes wall-to-wall carpet, hardwood and other flooring.
  • FLOR offers fun, modern flooring in modular squares, allowing for ultimate creative flexibility in creating a rug.
  • Delos is a fairly new kid on the floor covering block. Started in 2006 with production in India, they’ve been offering a variety of rugs made in the US since 2010.
  • Davison Custom uses 100% New Zealand Wool for their made-to-order rugs, all of which are made in America.
  • Oriental Weavers, despite what their name might suggest, designs and produces a line of rugs in the United States.
  • Stephen T. Anderson makes rugs the old fashioned way: wool fabrics hand-hooked into a linen base.
